Orientation Seminar 2016

広島工業大学環境学部建築デザイン学科では毎年一泊二日の新入生オリエンテーションを行います。今年度より広島県の林業・製材業・製造業をめぐる研修として、廿日市市吉和村での伐採作業から始まり、中本造林の製材工場、湯来町のマルニ木工を見学しました。

このオリエンテーションは1年前期に行われる演習授業「デザインワークショップ」でのベンチ作りのキックオフです。オリエンテーションで学んだことをベースに、間もなく各班が作る個性豊かな22脚のベンチが完成し、7月17日に行われるオープンキャンパスで展示されます。

All freshmen at Department of Architectural Design participate two-days orientation trip in April. This year, we visited a mountain near Hiroshima to see how trees are cut down and brought to a lumbermill. The students also visited a lumbermill and furniture factory to see the process of wood becoming products.

This orientation trip is also a kick-off of a design/build workshop that they are working right now. Total of 22 benches will be designed and built by the students and will be exhibited during the campus visit event on July 17th.
